ABOUT THE HOST

BLENDING YOUR STEPFAMILY

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage…

So beautiful, but not the only “norm” anymore. Being Remarried with kids is just as common. The problem is that only one out of three Remarried’s with children will actually make it until “death do us part”. Why? There are many reasons. Second families just do not work the same as first families yet we enter into them expecting them to. With the right tools and support we can have a very happy stepfamily. This is the mission of Blending Your Stepfamily.

Joseph was Jesus’ Step Dad. He could have taken the attitude “the child is not mine, I wasn’t there when He was conceived”. But he accepted the boy as an assignment from God to raise Him up in the way He should go. If we can look at our step relationships as an assignment from God, and that He chose us to raise this child, or love that stepparent or stepsibling, perhaps we can not only impact their life but maybe the world.

THE PODCAST

Blending Your StepFamily addresses issues such as co-parenting, discipline, jealousies, resentments, the blending stages, communication, stepmom stuff and the list could go on. We will delve into the unique circumstances that blended families face.

Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” This verse says it all in that if we will trust God and lean on His wisdom and understanding, and acknowledge that He is involved with us; then He will make our path straight and give us direction in every situation our family may face..

Blending Your StepFamily 56: Intimacy with Christ Helps With Relationships

Relationships can be difficult. If they were easy, we wouldn’t have broken families, divorces, broken hearts, misunderstandings, lack of forgiveness and bitterness, and the list could go on. But relationships are also a gift, it would be a lonely world without them. A key I have found to successful relationships is intimacy with Christ. Through […]

Blending Your StepFamily: The One Key To A Successful Blended Family

Luann was thinking of leaving…she’d had it.  Her husband Frank was a control freak.  He was always on her kids about something. When she tried to step in, he would yell at her, in front of her kids.  She never knew what would set him off.  Sometimes he was great but then he would change, […]

Blending Your StepFamily: Sex is a Gift not to be Wasted

Sex is a “hot” topic, but among some couples, it’s a subject they evade.  The way we view sex can determine whether we are fulfilled in it or avoiding it.  If we were injured in this area as a child, it may be more difficult to enjoy a healthy relationship as an adult.  Allowing pornography […]

Blending Your StepFamily: Healthy Perspectives Lead to Healthy Families

Let’s talk about perspectives today, what is perspective and how does it influence our attitudes and decisions.  Is the glass half full or half empty, it boils down to your perspective. To quote Rick Riordan: “Humans see what they want to see.” I recently heard of a study that really explains the importance of perspective.  In […]

I recently described how my ex-husband came to believe in the Lord.  Incredibly, the Lord allowed me to be a part of his salvation.  I say incredibly because for the years we were married, he was my abuser. We were married for five years and had a son together. My little boy tried so hard […]
